MARGI OWENS, Fine Artist
Margi Owens has been in the arts for most of her life. She comes from a Hingham, Massachusetts family with several other well know artists including Paul Arsenault from Naples, Florida and Helen Liston from Anchorage, Alaska. She received her BFA from the Maryland Institute of Art in 1978 in Textile Design. After graduation, she started BannerWorks in Baltimore, MD and installed decorative banners on historic storefront buildings all over the city and was later commissioned by the Rouse Company to do flags and banners for Harborplace and WhiteMarsh Mall.
During the 1990’s Margi took some time off to raise three children, but she also managed to build three new houses to keep her creativity alive. Now that her children are grown, she has returned to the arts with a painting career. She has recently studied with John Sills at the Zoll Studio in Baltimore and has focused on landscape and maritime paintings. She has traveled and painted extensively around the Chesapeake Bay, the Cape Cod/Nantucket area and the Caribbean Islands.
